Hello Stampers,
Border Buddies Saturday Patsy Here.
Today I want to share with you how to do some masking to create an image in front of another.
I am going to show you how create the look of the trees behind the Model T car. The trees are from the Lovely as a Tree stamp set found in the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog and the Guy Greetings stamp set from the Occasions Catalog.
First I stamped the car on the Whisper White cardstock.
Then I stamped the car on a Post-it Note™.
Then I cut the car out of the Post-it Note™.
Then I inked up the row of tress and stamped over the car and then removed the Post-it Note™. Using sponge daubers I sponged Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, Watermelon Wonder and Soft Sky to create the sunset.
I stamped the Happy Birthday greeting for the stamp set and then punched it out with the Washi Label Punch and added to the card front with a Dimensional. Don't you just love the way the Washi Label Punch creates a great tag.
Anytime you want a stamped image behind another you just stamp the front image first and follow the same steps above. Have a great rest of the weekend.

Patsy, this is a beautiful card. Thank you for sharing your technique to creat the sunset.. I need to try it .
Thanks Ruth, You are so welcome, Lovely as a Tree is such a classic stamp set and still one I love to stamp with.
Thank you, Patsy! Masking really isn’t as easy as you make it look but you inspire me to keep trying to get it right! I always end up with a gap between the stamped images – drives me crazy! Your card is wonderful and I am going to give this technique a shot for my blog guru who has a birthday around the corner. Great card!!
Hi Debbie,
Keep trying – do you have the Stampin’ Pierce Matt? I use one side for piercing and one side for stamping. It gives a little bit of a give so it is easier to get a stamped image without the gaps. If you have some fun foam around that can work too. Thanks for taking the time to write it means so much!
